One Day in Ho Chi Minh City
What to Do in One Day in Ho Chi Minh City
Begin your day with breakfast at our hotel in Ho Chi Minh City. Featuring comforting continental-style items, enhanced with regional delicacies and the delightful local touch of the warm, fragrant “pho” – the Vietnamese well-loved noodle soup – the Opera breakfast menu will surely please you. Then, take advantage of the morning and wander about Saigon, beginning in front of the remarkable Ho Chi Minh Opera House. One of Ho Chi Minh City's most prominent landmarks, the Saigon Opera House was custom-built in 1897 by French architect Eugene Ferret. In 1955, it was transformed into South Vietnam's Assembly House, and it has undergone several refurbishments since. Then take a stroll up Saigon’s most famous street – Dong Khoi – and pass charming boutique shops along the way until you arrive at the revered Notre Dame Cathedral and the Central Post Office, both built in the late 1800s. After a few photographs, walk down on to Pasteur Street and into Quan An Ngon restaurant and enjoy lunch. You can watch your food being prepared at open traditional Vietnamese stalls. Do not miss the traditional dishes, such as Banh Xeo (sizzling cake), Bun Bo Hue (Hue-style beef noodle soup) and the Vietnamese dessert selections.
After lunch, turn on to leafy Le Duan Boulevard towards the historical Reunification Palace and spend some time touring the palace, rebuilt in the 1960s after an air raid. If you have time, walk through the busy Ben Thanh Market, Ho Chi Minh City iconic central market. Purchase a local sugar cane juice and browse the wares from over 3,000 vendors. From clothes, souvenirs and handcrafted products to local Vietnamese fruits, sweets and snacks, this historic market has everything you need. Be prepared to bargain.
After spending the day under the Saigon heat, return to the hotel and allow our experienced therapists at Xuan Spa to help you relax and revive your senses with our treatments from the Mekong. Alternatively, you can choose to relax in one of the local coffee shops around our hotel, such as L’usine. This is a great café for a coffee or a light meal, and the popular venue also offers vintage clothes and accessories.
Finish the day with an exciting Saigon Jeep Tour by Night, which will give you an opportunity to experience nightlife exactly as the inhabitants of Saigon experience it. The tour will show you the unusual faces of the city, and you will see the main avenues and monuments nicely lighted at night, as well as the vibrant, animated streets of Saigon. You can enjoy local street food where the locals like to go and you can admire a breathtaking city view from one of Saigon’s rooftop bars.
Speak to our knowledgeable concierge team to arrange a private Park Hyatt Saigon Tour that will allow you to experience the culture and heritage that Vietnam has to offer.
