A HALF DAY IN HO CHI MINH CITY

Ho Chi Minh City began its existence as a small Khmer fishing village named Prey Nokor (forest kingdom) more than 1,000 years ago. In the 1600’s the city was gradually settled by the Vietnamese until it was renamed Saigon under the Nguyen emperors in the 1800’s. Now she is celebrated as Ho Chi Minh City, rechristened after the reunification of the country. We invite you to explore her with us.

The half day tour begins with the Reunification Palace, formerly known as the Presidential Palace. This building was the scene of the handover of Saigon as North Vietnamese tanks rushed through its gates seizing the city on the morning of April 30, 1975. You will then continue to the Central Post Office designed and constructed by Gustave Eiffel, then to the Notre Dame Cathedral and Cho Lon, the city’s Chinatown district. Next stop is to discover a Sino-Vietnamese Buddhist Pagoda Thien Hau – dedicated to the goddess of the Sea.

Thereafter, a Cyclo ride will take you through the bustling street of District I. At the end we stop at Ben Thanh – the central market for the city and one of its liveliest areas. Finally you have the option to the dropped off at the hotel or to one of Ho Chi Minh City’s local restaurants for an authentic Vietnamese meal. Enquire for meal pricing and options with our Concierge.
